At the same time, distributed systems and container technologies have advanced dramatically over the past few years. We're at one of those rare moments where we can leapfrog old constraints and define a new model for how data is accessed.
Founded in San Francisco. Andreea and Nico both saw F100 companies relinquish their data to vendors with much security theater but little control. And saw data consumers waiting weeks to get data access, and almost always immediately needing one more field, or one more join.
So they built what they always wanted for themselves: a way to access data in the shape they need at the moment, without allowing the data owner to relinquish their control.
Yes, we get this all the time. There's no hidden meaning, it's an inside joke in the climbing community, of which Andreea has been a part for the last 15 years.
The name was just the placeholder, and then we got a cool logo. Since the data world is full of ducks, tigers, and other animals, we decided to go with it.
